Release Candidate 1 is Now Available for Download! 7 June 2009 01:41 pm sinx
After approximately 18 months in development, I'm proud to say that I now feel MapMixer 3.00 for UT3 is at a point where I believe it is ready for general public use.

It's been a tough road to travel but a worthwhile one. I hope that this new version of MapMixer for UT3 brings you as much enjoyment as it did for me in its development.

Get it from the downloads section.

Just a note to mention that I've updated the About and Screenshots pages for MM 3.0 in anticipation of it going to Release Candidate.

I'm just waiting on UTDom 3.1 and CBP Vol 3 to be released, so I can make sure that any pre-configurations in the MapMixer ini files are correct. As I've mentioned before, I try to avoid directly hard-coding support for gametypes into MM but instead use ini file options to pre-configure MM, thus enabling end-user adaption of MM for any new gametype. Although it's far easier if I do this myself, rather than expect you guys to do it.

Would you believe me if I said it was very close? 18 May 2009 08:43 am sinx
It's been just over a month since my last update and still I haven't got Release Candidate 1 out yet. I'm taking the opportunity to do a lot of play testing and I've been able to track down and remove a good amount of bugs, so this is a good thing.

MapMixer provides a lot of different options that interact with each other in so many ways that it can be a huge process just to simply make sure they are not adversely affecting each other. You can definitely see how a company making money from something such as this would not head down the route I have with MapMixer. The result of so many options is worthwhile but the process in getting there can be difficult - especially for one person.

I'm feeling very confident about the current state of MM 3.0, so I'd say Release Candidate 1 is very close now. :)
The Final Stretch 11 April 2009 06:45 pm sinx
I never thought I'd see the day - but MM 3.0 is nearing public release.

I've released a Beta version to my private beta testers and my next step is find and remove any remaining bugs. After that a Public Release Candidate 1 will be made available for everyone to try. Assuming everything goes well, then MM 3.0 will become a final release.

Even though MM has been in beta for a while now, I broke the release cycle when UT3 Patch 2.0 came out, in order to make some compatability changes. One thing I introduced recently, which I am quite proud of, is the MM Character Customiser for both personal player models, as well as Faction Characters. So not only can you edit the AI characteristics of Faction Characters (as well as making your own), you can now customise their appearance. The MM Character Customiser includes the ability to grab and rotate the character with the mouse, spinning it round and zooming. You can quickly select any character model to load, as well as saving and loading your own preset characters to use as your personal player model.

So we're on the final stretch now...
